Softcard Mobile Wallet
Softcard was a joint venture between Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. The Softcard mobile wallet (iOS/Android) was one of the first mobile wallets designed to transmit payment, loyalty and discounts to a contactless payment terminal at checkout using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.
In 2012, I joined Softcard as Creative Director with a mission to redesign their beta application to win the support of our banking partners and create an intuitive experience for users.
My favorite parts:
Clean, uncluttered interface with life size card display
Easy lookup of available funds/balances
Combining payment, loyalty and coupons into a single transaction
Delightful animation and haptic feedback to signal success
Customization options that allowed users to express their style
The redesign was received enthusiastically with our bank/payment partners and test groups. After a successful beta launch in Austin with Whole Foods, the app launched nationally in 2013. Softcard IP was acquired by Google for integration into Android Pay in 2015. I hold two Google patents for interface design.
